Solvent extraction (SX) is a hydrometallurgical process used for purification and/or concentration of a specific target. This target is typically a metal ion, but can also be an organic acid, mineral acid, etc., depending on the functionality of the extractant. 
The SX process essentially consists of two stages:

  • Extraction – The target is selectively transferred and purified from the aqueous phase feed solution to the solvent phase.
  • Stripping – The target is transferred and concentrated from the loaded solvent phase to a second aqueous phase for further processing.

For solvent extraction, Syensqo offers two primary product families: hydroxyoxime extractants under the trademark ACORGA® solvent extraction reagents, and organophosphorus extractants under the trademark CYANEX® solvent extraction reagents. We also offer a number of other products such as DEHPA, FENTAMINE® amine extractants, protectors and additives.
