Technical Service is an integral part of Syensqo's mission statement within the Mining Solution’s business. To effectively service the SX markets around the world, Syensqo maintains Technical Service centers in the USA, Chile, Peru, Australia, South Africa, the DRC and Zambia. These facilities provide direct customer technical support in their regional markets.
Mining technical service functions include plant optimization and design assistance, commissioning support, operator and metallurgist technical training, product safety training, handling and environmental assistance. More advanced analysis is available when necessary, including mineralogical analysis; surface analysis (via XPS and SIMS); FTIR; experimental design and analysis; statistical interpretation; and chemical analysis by sophisticated instrumental techniques (e.g., GC mass spectrometry). Bench-top pilot plant studies
Bench-top pilot plant studies are performed ideally when insufficient leach solution is available to conduct large-scale testing. Syensqo's testing equipment, which comes in several sizes, is used to assess new reagent formulations, test new circuit configurations, test up and down-stream additives for compatibility, and troubleshoot difficult-to-process leach solutions.
Larger scale on-site pilot plant testing capabilities
In most regions, Syensqo maintains larger-scale pilot plant equipment that can be taken on-site to troubleshoot an issue, conduct reagent evaluations and compatibility tests, or assist with training and circuit optimization.
Organic analysis
Syensqo routinely analyzes organic samples for their oxime and modifier content so that the oxime:modifier ratio can be monitored. The level of aldehyde/ketone is also determined, as this is an indication of the extent of hydrolysis of the oxime. Copper is stripped off and the organic analyzed using gas chromatography linked to a mass spectrometer. Unusual peaks appearing in the GC analysis can be further investigated by high-resolution mass spectrometry or infrared spectrophotometry. High-pressure liquid chromatography is also used for this purpose.
